Primary Awards

Grand Awards

  • Primary Young Scientist – $250 awarded to the most outstanding primary project from years 3-6.
  • Rural Young Scientist of the Year Awards – $200 awarded to the most outstanding primary project from a regional or remote area.
  • Budding Young Scientist – $150 awarded to the most outstanding primary project from years K-2.

Primary Scientific Investigations

Awards will be presented for outstanding scientific investigations in the following year groups:

Years K-2:

  • $100 – up to 6 awards for outstanding scientific investigations on any topic
  • $100 – up to 4 awards for outstanding projects involving reduction of carbon dioxide (CO₂) or other greenhouse gases

Years 3-4:

  • $125 – up to 8 awards for outstanding scientific investigations on any topic
  • $125 – up to 4 awards for outstanding projects involving reduction of carbon dioxide (CO₂) or other greenhouse gases

Years 5-6:

  • $150 – up to 10 awards for outstanding scientific investigations on any topic
  • $150 – up to 6 awards for outstanding projects involving reduction of carbon dioxide (CO₂) or other greenhouse gases

Primary Technological Innovations

Awards will be presented in the Technological Innovations category in the following year groups:

 

Years K-2: $100

  • up to 2 awards for outstanding technological innovations on any topic
  • up to 2 awards for outstanding technological innovations involving reduction of carbon dioxide (CO₂) or other greenhouse gases

Years 3-4: $125

  • up to 2 awards for outstanding technological innovations on any topic
  • up to 2 awards for outstanding technological innovations involving reduction of carbon dioxide (CO₂) or other greenhouse gases

Years 5-6: $150

  • up to 2 awards for outstanding technological innovations on any topic
  • up to 2 awards for outstanding technological innovations involving reduction of carbon dioxide (CO₂) or other greenhouse gases

Submission Formats for Primary

Year K-6 Projects may be submitted in any of the following formats:

 

  • Scientific Report
  • Report table. K-4 students can submit an audio recording of their answers to be table, rather than written responses (to be auto-transcribed)
  • Scientific Poster – electronic.
  • Slide Deck / to be submitted as PDF. K-4 students can submit an audio recording or auto-transcription to go with their slide show, rather than written responses. No animations are permitted.

All submissions must include a logbook, risk assessment, equipment list, reference list and acknowledgements.
