Grand Awards

  • Young Scientist of the Year – $1,200 awarded to the most outstanding overall secondary student project
  • Young Scientist Runner Up – $800 awarded to the second-place secondary student project
  • Rural Young Scientist of the Year Award – $600 awarded to the most outstanding secondary project from a regional or rural areas

Scientific Investigation Awards

 

Awarded to the most outstanding scientific investigations in each age group in each of the following disciplines:

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Earth and Environmental Science
  • Physics
  • Cross-disciplinary – reduction of carbon dioxide (CO₂) or other greenhouse gases

Technological Innovation Awards 

 

Awarded to the most promising projects in each year group in the following areas:

  • Overall Technological Innovations
  • Technological Innovations that involve reduction of carbon dioxide (CO₂) or other greenhouse gases

Spark awards – acknowledgement of students who demonstrate areas of strength in their investigations. Spark awardees may be nominated ASTA I3.

 

Submission Format for Secondary

Senior Year 11-12 scientific investigation projects must be submitted as a scientific report.

 

Year 7-10 Projects may be submitted in any of the following formats:

  • Scientific Report
  • Report table
  • Scientific Poster
  • Slide deck

All submissions must include a logbook, risk assessment, equipment, reference list and acknowledgements.
