Register to Judge – A Valuable Professional Development Opportunity

Take part in judging the Young Scientist Awards at the state level and gain insight into the program.

• Schools entering projects are expected to provide at least one judge.
• You don’t have to be a teacher – anyone with a science background or interest is welcome. Online training is provided.

How judging works:

• All judging is conducted online using our own dedicated judging platform, with Microsoft Teams for communication and coordination.
• Judging includes both:
  • Synchronous sessions (live, scheduled online meetings), and
  • Asynchronous work (assessing allocated projects in your own time).

Time commitment:

• Begins with a 3-hour live session (initial judging and discussion).
• Followed by 1 week of independent assessment.
• Concludes with a 3-hour live session (final deliberations).

Important notes:

• Judges should aim to commit to the full process for the category (approximately 10 hours). Notify the judging coordinator after registering if you are not available for one of the sessions.  
• Due to workload and scheduling overlaps, please sign up for only ONE Science category and/or ONE Technology category.
